Elle DVD with Tara and Brooklyn Decker!

Some of you probably already know about the Elle project because we were running around and rehearsing a bit in the studio. You might have seen the cool stuff that Reebok left behind, some mats and blocks and weights, (not that we need weights for yoga, but just in case you feel like tossing a few 5lb'ers around we got em!)

Check out Ellemakebetter.com for the scoop. The site is really cool. Click around for video and behind the scenes photos. The DVD is a 3 set series including other styles of working out and fashion stuff. You can also get the yoga one individually. There are 2, 25 minute yoga routines Brooklyn and Tara do together. We practiced a bunch so we got it all in time! They are pretty similar to a Strala Strong class! So if you are headed away over the holidays and need to take some Strala with you now you can!

Happy Holidays!

Strala on Tour

Slim Calm Sexy!

Some of you may know, I'm in the middle of revisions for my first book, Slim, Calm, Sexy. It will be released by Rodale press, and branded Women's Health (magazine) Aug '10. That means NOW is crunch time, hence the removal of noon classes. I need the day time hours and post-yoga night time hours to work! I'm totally psyched though. My book went from being a regular Rodale release, which was pretty exciting, to being the big Women's Health title. That means they like the yoga I'm doing. Very awesome and I'm very happy to deliver you all a book that has the Women's Health stamp of approval. Cover shoot is in Feb and then the Amazon link will be updated with a well lit photo of me! Yay!

see you in class!

Interested in Teaching at Strala?

Hi Everyone.

If you are (or know someone that is) interested in teaching yoga or learning more about Strala, here's what to do.

1. Learn a bit about Strala. Check out the website. Do some googling and reading.

2. Take a class at Strala and see what that's all about.

3. Talk to Tara or Mike before or after class.

4. Sign up for our Strala learning program. Email info@stralayoga.com or sign up at the studio.

But what if you are already a yoga teacher?

While we introduce our students to guest teachers in other styles of yoga from time to time, our primary focus is teaching the Strala method. If you are interested in learning more about Strala, great. We'd love to meet you and talk about teaching opportunities at Strala. If you teach a different style of yoga come meet us anyway. We are always looking for subs. We also offer workshops that are great for continuing education for already yoga teachers.

But what if you're broke?

We don't want financial resources to get in the way of you practicing yoga. We are offering Bail Out (Free Yoga) on Saturdays at 12:30pm-1:30pm through the holidays so come for the free class and talk to us after. We also have scholarships available based on a variety of circumstances.

See you soon,

Tara Stiles

We have a Strala Learning Program workshop coming up!

When: Sunday September 27, 2009, from 1pm to 5pm

Where: 178 Fifth Avenue #6, between 22nd and 23rd Street

Category: Moving and Staying Still

Cost: $120 to audit, or $200 for program credit (check or cash)

This physical workshop will introduce the Moving and Staying still category, with a total-body overview. Come ready to move!

About Strala

Strala's goal is for everyone to achieve a lifelong strong base of vibrantly good health. Lead by founders Tara Stiles and Mike Taylor, our focus is on building good health through attention to strength, balance, and awareness. The Strala style of yoga works to create a clear, fit mind and body, along with the intuition to do what your body needs to be healthy.

About Our Learning Program

Strala offers a continuous year-round learning program. You can go at your own pace, and take the courses you want when you want. Build credits toward a 360 or 720-hour Strala certification, or just focus on whatever parts interest you the most.

Strala's courses cover 5 primary categories: moving and staying still, practical teaching, breathing and meditation, food and health, and philosophy. Communication is covered as a consistent theme within each category. Healing is also offered as a separate elective course.

Each course generally meets as a Sunday workshop, with some associated reading, activities and challenges that take place in advance. If you're headed for certification, 4 one-on-one development sessions are included along the way to support your progress.

Strala's programs are physically challenging and educationally rigorous. It's difficult to share and teach what you don't have yourself. We'll work intently on strengthening our own yoga and health, along with learning and practicing ways for helping the people around us to do the same.

For details about the next workshop or the Strala Learning Program as a whole, please contact us at info@stralayoga.com.
